English Translation of Ayat al Kursi
Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.
Who could intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills to reveal. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest.

اللہ، وہ زندہ جاوید ہستی، جو تمام کائنات کو سنبھالے ہوئے ہے، اُس کے سوا کوئی خدا نہیں ہے وہ نہ سوتا ہے اور نہ اُسے اونگھ لگتی ہے زمین اور آسمانوں میں جو کچھ ہے، اُسی کا ہے کون ہے جو اُس کی جناب میں اُس کی اجازت کے بغیر سفارش کر سکے؟ جو کچھ بندوں کے سامنے ہے اسے بھی وہ جانتا ہے اور جو کچھ اُن سے اوجھل ہے، اس سے بھی وہ واقف ہے اور اُس کی معلومات میں سے کوئی چیز اُن کی گرفت ادراک میں نہیں آسکتی الّا یہ کہ کسی چیز کا علم وہ خود ہی اُن کو دینا چاہے اُس کی حکومت آسمانوں اور زمین پر چھائی ہوئی ہے اور اُن کی نگہبانی اس کے لیے کوئی تھکا دینے والا کام نہیں ہے بس وہی ایک بزرگ و برتر ذات ہے
The Story of Ayat Al Kursi
Shaitaan is a liar, and he always tries to deviate you by lying and fooling you. But there was one incident when Shaitaan spoke the truth.
This incident happened with Abu Hurairah (RA), who reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) put him in charge of the charity of Ramadan. One night, somebody came and began to take away some food. Abu Hurairah (RA) caught him and said, “I must take you to the Messenger of Allah (SAW).” The man pleaded, “I am a needy man with a large family and have a pressing need.” Feeling pity for him, Abu Hurairah (RA) let him go.
The next morning, when he saw the Messenger of Allah (SAW), he was asked, “O Abu Hurairah, what did your captive do last night?” Abu Hurairah (RA) replied, “O Messenger of Allah, he complained of pressing need and a big family, so I felt pity for him and let him go.” The Prophet (SAW) said, “He told you a lie, and he will return.”
As expected, the man returned and again attempted to steal food. Abu Hurairah (RA) caught him and said, “I must take you to the Messenger of Allah (SAW).” The man pleaded once more, “Let go of me! I am a needy man, and I have a big family. I will not come back.” Feeling pity again, Abu Hurairah (RA) let him go.
The next morning, the Prophet (SAW) asked, “What did your captive do last night?” Abu Hurairah (RA) replied, “O Messenger of Allah, he complained of pressing need and the burden of a big family, so I took pity on him and let him go.” The Prophet (SAW) said, “He told you a lie, and he will return.”
For the third time, the man came to steal food. Abu Hurairah (RA) arrested him and said, “I must take you to the Messenger of Allah (SAW). This is the last of three times—you promised that you would not return, but you did!” The man pleaded, “Let go of me, and I shall teach you some words with which Allah may benefit you.” Abu Hurairah (RA) asked, “What are those words?” The man replied, “When you go to bed, recite Ayatul Kursi, for there will be a guardian appointed over you from Allah, and Shaitaan will not be able to approach you till morning.” So, Abu Hurairah (RA) let him go.
The next morning, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) asked, “What did your prisoner do last night?” Abu Hurairah (RA) answered,
“He promised to teach me some words which he claimed would benefit me before Allah, so I let him go.” The Prophet (SAW) asked, “What are those words that he taught you?”
Abu Hurairah (RA) replied, “He told me to recite Ayatul Kursi before sleeping, and by doing so, Allah will appoint a guardian over me, and Shaitaan will not be able to come near me until morning.”
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Verily, he has told you the truth, though he is a liar. O Abu Hurairah, do you know with whom you were speaking for the last three nights?” Abu Hurairah (RA) said, “No.” The Prophet (SAW) then said, “He was Shaitaan.” This hadith is mentioned in Sahih Al-Bukhari.
